West Africa is currently the fastest growing region in the entire continent, growth in the region is outstanding by oil and mineral's sector, but also by agriculture and services. The agricultural sector is the most important in the Ghanaian economy, represents 24,6 % of the GDP in 2012. In the last exercise the growth of the sector has been of 1 % that indicates the loss of gradual weight of the sector in the GDP. The agriculture, based principally on the culture of the cocoa, it does that Ghana is the biggest second producer in the world of this food, after Ivory Coast, and it is necessary to emphasize that due to his rich agriculture in the country, Ghana joined to OMC in 1995.

In consideration to the industry’s sector stands out the mining industry, which include principally of gold, diamonds, manganese and bauxite. It’s relatively advanced if it is compared with other African countries. Ghana is the second largest gold producer in Africa (after South Africa) and eighth position in the world.

In 2010 Ghana began to produce the oil and a legal framework was promulgated for the direction of his wealth. According to the secretary of Finance and the Ghanaian Economic of Planning, Kwaneba Duffuor, in the next years, the oil and the gas will occupy an important part in the public accounts of Ghana. Nevertheless, in spite of the euphoria of the moment, still big doubts exists on the distribution of advantages and the protection of environment.

Ghana tries to turn into a country of average revenue for 2015. The income derived from the production of oil foreseen in Ghana would provide a good financing source for the development of the country. Nevertheless, the production of oil is not exempt from complications, between them the "Dutch evil" or the behaviors of revenues’s capture associated with this production. Ghana departs from a profitable position in comparison with some other countries of the subregion for the management of his oil resources.
At this moment, the main opportunities of business in Ghana are focused in the following sectors:

Construction and materials of construction. Exist an important demand in the construction of infrastructures, promoted by the Ghanaian Government with support of international financing. This increase of the infrastructure (the construction of roads, railroads and ports, social and residential housings, centers of health and educational) generates an important demand of materials, specially of ceramic products.

Food-processing industry, the Government seeks to diversify the plantations, with citrus fruits, rubber, oil, cashews, cotton and tropical fruits. For that reason it is facilitated the installation of companies dedicated to the transformation of the raw material, as the cocoa. The products more demanded of the exterior are transformed food, frozen fish, juice, wine and alcoholic drinks.

Energy, until now the hydroelectric industry was the principal source of energy of the country, there is promoted the development of renewable energies. The Volta Lake generates electricity, provides inland water and is a potentially valuable resource for irrigation and fish farming.

Consumer goods, there exists an incipient middle class that demands quality products of all kinds: as footwear, clothes, furnitures, vehicles, cosmetics, etc.

Water, down 60 % of the population has access to drinkable water in the country. The treatment of solid and purification are relegated to a background.

Services, telecommunications, health, transport and formation.

Tourism, in full development. The tourism has happened to be one of the most healthy sources of income, and the government of Ghana has put many emphasis in supporting the growth of the tourism. The National Plan of Development of the Tourism searches investors for 8 tourist areas, because there is a real demand, in the segment of hotels 2-5 stars.
